As part of the Workshop Series of the Graphic Design Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Istanbul Yeni Yüzyıl University, I conducted a workshop titled "Applications of Motion Graphic Design" on May 25, 2021. Held online via Microsoft Teams due to the pandemic, the workshop aimed to introduce graphic design students to the practical aspects of motion graphic production.
In the workshop, we explored the transition between static design and motion graphics through practical examples: how a design is constructed over time, the relationship between movement and typography and composition, and the different uses of motion graphics from television broadcasting to digital media formed the main focus of the session. Using examples from national and international projects where I worked as a motion graphic designer for many years at Kanal D, I shared with the students, step by step, how a project goes from brief to broadcast in the industry.
The interest that graphic design students showed in screen-based media and movement took the workshop beyond a mere technical demonstration; the session transformed into a productive conversation with questions about professional practice.
