Foosball 3D Project 

Foosball is a personal 3D animation I created out of my own curiosity, without any client brief. The starting point is a simple reversal: foosball is already a miniature version of football on a tabletop – so what would happen if this miniature were placed in the middle of a real stadium?

 

The study continues this question visually. The color logic of the red and blue plastic player figures is transferred to the stands; tens of thousands of seats surrounding the table are arranged in rings of the same two colors. Thus, the table produces its own audience — the difference in scale between the toy and the stadium dissolves within a single color system. The camera moves back and forth between these two scales: sometimes right next to the ball, between the polished surfaces of the player figures and the chrome gleam of the rods; sometimes in the back row of the stands, looking at the tiny table in the middle. The overhead shot reduces the stadium to concentric red-blue rings, transforming the composition into an almost graphic sign.

 

Technically, the study was an experiment on the relationship between light and polished plastic and chrome surfaces, the arrangement and distribution solutions of wide rows of seats, and the effect of shallow depth of field on the perception of scale. In macro shots, the physical reality of the toy material is emphasized, while in wide shots, the texture created by the repeating geometry comes to the fore.

 

Personal projects open up space for something commercial projects don't allow: to see an idea through to the end, regardless of deadlines. What interested me in this project wasn't the foosball table itself, but how scale changed its meaning — the same object, a toy on a table, serious in a stadium.
